Mount Chicon (4D / 3N)

ALTITUDE: 5450 m.
DEGREE: EASY CLIMB - MODERATE - RIGOROUS TREK

The Mount Chicon is a beautiful mountain located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is viewed from the heights of Chincheros, a frequent stop in the classic Sacred Valley tour. Seemingly easy but a difficult approach, it is necessary for porters to carry all the equipment and food. The passenger will only carry a daypack with: a water bottle, camera, jacket and gloves. After climbing five hours we will arrive at base camp. Over the steep cliffs and rocks, we will experience amazing sunsets and sunrises.

ITINERARY

The itinerary is as follows:

DAY 1: Cusco- Urubamba (2950m) - base camp (4400m)

Leaving early from Cusco, only an hour driving to Urubamba and continue to the Chicon Valley for 30 minutes more where the roadway ends…we will proceed to prepare for the ascent to the mountain… after a steep incline we will arrive to base camp; approximately 6 hours trekking today.

DAY 2: base camp - Chicon lake(4600m)

We'll use this intermedian camp site and continue today walking over a moraine during only 2 hours. this day we can visit 4 small and quiet lagoons and beautiful landscapes in the area , we'll spend one nigth here.

DAY 3: Chicon lake - attack the summit ( 5200m) - Chicon valley (4400m)

Snow until arriving at the glacier; the return to the Chicon lake when we will rest to nigth.

DAY 4: Chicon Valley to Urubamba – Cusco

We will descend to the Chicon Valley, four hours walking downhill until to arrive to the roadway; here our bus will be waiting for us to carry us to Urubamba for our celebratory lunch… and finally we have to go back to Cusco.

  7. Double occupancy tents.
  8. Collective mountaineering equipment ( 01 rope 50 m. each 2 climbers, aluminium stakes, titanium screw).
  9. Private Transport ( from Cusco to Urubamba and back to Cusco ).
